Summer Screens is one of the UK’s leading cinema event companies. We have been organising and promoting film events across the country for a decade at a host of stunning locations, as well as producing screenings for a selective group of clients.

After a difficult year for the industry, Summer Screens has a full calendar booked for 2022. Alongside the established cinema business, the is company expanding its event portfolio into other sectors within the experience economy. With a full summer season and this expansion in mind, Summer Screens is currently looking to recruit a range of people to join the team.

 

Event Manager

The Event Manager will take responsibility for running of Summer Screens events, preparing for the event at our warehouse. You will supervise the FOH setup, co-ordinating with other team members including the production engineer, the venue and sub-contractors. The Event Manager will then take the lead in supervising the team during the event, to make sure it runs smoothly, and our guests have the best outdoor cinema experience possible. You will provide leadership to the team and resolve any issues as they arise.

The Event Manager will:

  • Prepare for the event at the company warehouse, ensuring you have everything required
  • Oversee the front of house set up at the event, working closely with the Production Engineer and other team members
  • Co-ordinate any third-party suppliers or sub-contractors
  • Supervise Front of House teams including Box Office, Security, Bar and Stewards
  • Management of onsite systems to include point of entry and point of sale
  • Ensure the event is delivered to the highest possible standards and the team provide an exceptional level of customer service for the audience
  • Take responsibility for any customer issues that arise at the event and resolve them quickly and acceptably
  • Provide the on-site point of contact for the venue
  • Organising the de-rigging of events as required
  • On-site implementation of H&S requirements, safely following the company Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Preparing post-event reporting
  • Carry out site visits where necessary

Desired skills

  • Relevant and demonstrable Event Management experience
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure to ensure the efficient running of a event
  • A people person with a confident manner, able to communicate at all levels
  • Customer focused, a desire to deliver the best possible audience experience
  • Good leadership skills, able to manage and supervise at team successfully
  • Calm under pressure, able to think through problems clearly to find solutions
  • A good communicator with an enthusiastic, positive, can-do attitude
  • Attention to detail, a perfectionist
  • Excellent IT skills
  • A full UK driving License

Freelance Production Engineers

You will be responsible for preparing equipment for the event at our warehouse in Reading and ensure you have everything that is required. The Production Engineer will take the lead in the setup of the AV, sound, lighting and power distribution at the event, meeting all the H&S requirements set out in the company policies and RAMS. You will work closely with the Event Manager and colleagues to deliver the event to the highest possible standards and offering a fantastic experience for the audience.

The successful Production Engineer will:

  • Prepare and check equipment for the event at the company warehouse
  • On site delivery of the technical event production of Summer Screens events to include AV, sound, lighting and power distribution
  • Ensure the event is delivered to the highest possible standards
  • Assisting with rigging and de-rigging of events
  • On-site implementation of all H&S requirements, safely following the company Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Work closely with the Event Manager and other colleagues to deliver the best experience possible for the audience
  • Carry out site visits where necessary

Desired skills

  • Proven experience within live event production, with broad knowledge across all areas of technical production including AV, lighting, sound and power distribution
  • Experience managing and implementing H&S policies in a live event environment
  • Calm in a crisis, flexible and adaptable, pro-active with excellent interpersonal skills
  • A motivated team player with a commitment to quality and professionalism
  • A good communicator with an enthusiastic, positive, can-do attitude
  • Computer literate
  • Full UK driving license

May – September 2022

The company is based in Reading but due to the nature of the work you will also be required to travel to events around the country and occasionally stay away.

General Event Staff

Summer Screens is always looking for great individuals to help run our cinema events across the summer at our venues around the country. We provide a fun, relaxed and flexible working environment with great pay. Roles available for 2022 include box office supervisors, stewards, bar supervisors, general bar staff, warehouse staff, drivers and setup up crew.

  • Experience working in a hospitality or event environment
  • Aged 18 or over
  • A superb communicator who loves providing a great service
  • A positive attitude with a can-do approach to work
  • Reliable, committed with good timekeeping
  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Access to own transport (preferred)

LOCATION

The company is based in Reading but due to the nature of the work you will travel to events  with transport provided if required.

TERMS

Average 20 – 40 hours per week

£10-£12.50 per hour dependant on age and experience.
